Landscaping Cost in Dubai 2026

What a villa or townhouse garden really costs in Dubai, line by line: lawns, planting, paving, irrigation, lighting and structures, with three complete example budgets and the costs most quotations leave out.

Get a fixed quote See example budgets

Ask three companies for a landscaping cost in Dubai and you can get three quotes that are tens of thousands of dirhams apart for the same garden. Usually the gap is not about honesty. It is about scope: one quote includes soil, irrigation and lighting, another leaves them out, and the third assumes premium stone where the first assumed interlock paving.

This guide gives you the typical price of every part of a Dubai garden, so you can build a realistic budget and compare quotations fairly. All figures are Dubai market ranges for 2026, supplied and installed, excluding 5% VAT.

The quick answer: most Dubai gardens cost between AED 150 and AED 500 per square metre to landscape completely, and premium villa gardens more. A townhouse backyard typically lands between AED 14,000 and 31,000, a standard villa garden between AED 41,000 and 110,000, and a large villa garden with a pool deck from AED 145,000 upwards.

A simple refresh of an existing garden, with new planting, lawn repairs and an irrigation check, can cost as little as AED 3,500.

How landscaping is priced in Dubai

Landscaping companies in Dubai price work in four ways, and most quotations mix them. Knowing which is which makes quotes much easier to compare.

  • Per square metre for anything that covers ground: lawn, artificial grass, planting beds, paving, decking and soil preparation.
  • Per item for things you count: trees, palms, garden lights, planters and water features.
  • Per system for irrigation, where the price depends on zones, controller and pipe runs rather than area alone.
  • Lump sum for design, structures such as pergolas and outdoor kitchens, and complete design-and-build projects.

Rates per square metre fall as the area grows. A 30 m² courtyard costs more per metre than a 300 m² villa garden, because setup, transport and minimum material orders are spread across less ground.

Lawn and planting costs

Soft landscaping covers everything that grows. It is usually the smallest share of a large project and the largest share of a small one.

ItemNotesMarket range
Soil preparation and levellingClearing, levelling, compost and fertiliser worked in before plantingAED 30 – 70 / m²
Imported topsoilNeeded where the ground is compacted, rubble-filled or salineAED 50 – 150 / m³
Natural grass, supplied and laidPaspalum or Bermuda turf rolls on a prepared bedAED 25 – 60 / m²
Artificial grass, installedPrice rises with pile height, density and UV grade; includes base and edgingAED 60 – 150 / m²
Planting bedsShrubs and groundcover, planted with soil improvement; depends on plant size and spacingAED 60 – 250 / m²
Seasonal flower bedsPetunias, marigolds and similar, replaced twice a yearAED 60 – 150 / m²
Young trees, 1.5 to 2.5 mNeem, ghaf, citrus and similar, plantedAED 250 – 1,200 each
Specimen trees and mature palmsIncludes delivery and planting; large specimens may need a craneAED 1,500 – 15,000+ each
Mulch or decorative pebblesBark, gravel or river pebbles over weed membraneAED 25 – 60 / m²

Native and heat-tolerant plants such as ghaf, neem, oleander and date palm cost far less than imported species and survive summer with less water.

Paving, decking and hard landscaping costs

Hard landscaping is where budgets move the most. The same terrace can cost three times as much in natural stone as in interlock, and the material choice also decides how hot the surface gets underfoot in July.

ItemNotesMarket range
Interlock pavingConcrete pavers on a compacted base; the budget choice for paths and drivewaysAED 90 – 180 / m²
Outdoor porcelain tilesSlip-rated, light colours stay cooler; popular for terracesAED 180 – 350 / m²
Natural stoneTravertine, limestone or granite; premium look, needs sealingAED 300 – 800 / m²
Composite (WPC) deckingLow maintenance, on an aluminium or steel subframeAED 250 – 550 / m²
Hardwood deckingBeautiful, but needs regular oiling in Dubai sunAED 800+ / m²
Stepping-stone pathStone or concrete slabs set in lawn or gravelAED 150 – 350 / linear m
Bed edgingSteel, stone or concrete kerb edgingAED 40 – 120 / linear m
Raised planters and seating wallsBlock built, rendered or cladAED 600 – 1,500 / linear m

Removing old paving adds labour and waste disposal. Ask whether demolition is in the price before comparing quotes. More detail on our hard landscaping and paving pages.

Irrigation, lighting and structure costs

These are the items that turn a planted plot into a garden people actually use, and the ones most often missing from a cheap quotation.

ItemNotesMarket range
Small drip irrigation systemAround 20 plants or a courtyard, with a basic timerAED 2,000 – 4,000
Full villa irrigation systemSprinklers and drip, several zones, controller and valvesAED 8,000 – 15,000+
Irrigation repair visitLeaks, blocked emitters, valve or controller faultsAED 250 – 800
Garden lightPath, spike or uplight, supplied, cabled and installedAED 500 – 1,200 each
Shade sailFabric sail on steel posts with footingsAED 3,000 – 10,000
Pergola, timber or steelStandard size over a terrace or seating areaAED 8,000 – 25,000
Louvred aluminium pergolaAdjustable roof blades, often with lightingAED 25,000+
Water featureWall fountain, bowl or small pond with pumpAED 5,000 – 20,000
Barbecue station or outdoor kitchenFrom a built-in grill counter to a full kitchenAED 10,000 – 60,000

Pergolas, outdoor kitchens and other structures usually need community approval. Planning a pool as well? See our pool construction and renovation guide for pool costs.

Garden design fees

Design is quoted as a lump sum. A simple layout and plant list for a townhouse garden can cost AED 2,000 to 5,000. A full landscape design for a larger villa, with drawings, planting schedules, lighting and irrigation layouts, typically costs AED 5,000 to 50,000, and more for estates in communities like Emirates Hills or Palm Jumeirah.

Many design-and-build companies reduce or absorb the design fee when they also build the garden. If you are paying for design separately, make sure you own the drawings and can take them to any contractor.

Three example garden budgets

Rates only become useful once they add up to a garden. These three examples are built from the ranges above, so you can see where the money actually goes. The low figure uses standard materials and young plants. The high figure uses premium finishes and larger plants.

  • Groundwork and soil
  • Lawn and planting
  • Paving and decking
  • Irrigation
  • Lighting
  • Structures and design

Townhouse backyard, about 60 m²

AED 14,000 – 31,000

Soil preparation throughout, 25 m² of artificial grass, 15 m² of planting beds, a 12 m² porcelain terrace, a drip irrigation system, four garden lights and a shade sail.

  • Groundwork 14%
  • Lawn and planting 23%
  • Paving 14%
  • Irrigation 13%
  • Lighting 15%
  • Structures 21%

Standard villa garden, about 250 m²

AED 41,000 – 110,000

100 m² of natural lawn, 60 m² of planting beds, five trees, 50 m² of paving, a full zoned irrigation system, ten garden lights and a pergola over the terrace.

  • Groundwork 12%
  • Lawn and planting 25%
  • Paving 15%
  • Irrigation 15%
  • Lighting 11%
  • Structures 22%

Large villa with pool deck, about 600 m²

AED 145,000 – 405,000

200 m² of lawn, 150 m² of planting, specimen trees and palms, 150 m² of stone or porcelain terraces and pool deck, zoned irrigation, a 25-light scheme, a pergola with outdoor kitchen, and full design drawings. The pool itself is not included.

  • Groundwork 7%
  • Lawn and planting 26%
  • Paving 26%
  • Irrigation 7%
  • Lighting 8%
  • Structures and design 26%

Shares are calculated at the middle of each range. Excludes VAT, community approval fees and any demolition of existing hardscape.

What the examples show: in small gardens, the fixed-cost items like irrigation, lighting and a shade structure take a surprisingly large share. In large gardens, the paving material and the structures decide the budget. Choosing porcelain instead of natural stone for a 150 m² deck can move the total by AED 50,000 or more.

Garden maintenance costs

A new garden is only as good as its first summer. Budget for maintenance from day one, especially in the first year while new plants establish.

GardenTypical serviceMarket range
Single visitOne-off tidy, mowing, pruning and irrigation checkAED 200 – 550
Townhouse gardenWeekly or fortnightly visitsAED 300 – 600 / month
Standard villa gardenWeekly visits, lawn care, pruning, feeding, irrigation checksAED 600 – 1,500 / month
Large villa or estateSeveral visits a week, seasonal planting, pest controlAED 1,500 – 3,500 / month
Annual contract, standard villaTwelve months, usually cheaper than paying monthlyAED 8,000 – 18,000 / year

Seasonal flower replacement, plant replacements and major pruning of large trees are often charged separately. See our garden maintenance service for what we include.

Natural grass or artificial grass: the real cost

Artificial grass costs two to three times more to install, and that is where most comparisons stop. Over several years the picture is closer than it looks.

FactorNatural grassArtificial grass
InstallationAED 25 – 60 / m²AED 60 – 150 / m²
WaterDaily irrigation in summer, a noticeable share of the DEWA billOccasional rinse only
UpkeepMowing, feeding, scarifying and patch repairsBrushing, debris removal, infill top-up
LifespanIndefinite with care; worn patches re-turfedRoughly 8 to 15 years for good grades; cheap grades fade much sooner
Summer surface heatStays cool underfootGets hot in direct sun in July and August
Best forMain family lawn in open sunShade, heavy use, pets, rooftops and pool surrounds

Many Dubai villa gardens use both: natural grass where the family plays in open sun, and artificial grass in shaded corners where real grass would struggle anyway.

The costs most quotations leave out

  • Soil replacement. Many Dubai plots have compacted fill, construction rubble or saline sand under the surface. Replacing it with sweet soil costs AED 50 to 150 per cubic metre, and it is often only discovered once digging starts.
  • Demolition and waste. Breaking out old paving, removing dead trees and hiring skips can add several thousand dirhams on a heavy strip-out.
  • Community approval. Structures, major hardscape and pools usually need an NOC, and some communities charge an application fee or hold a refundable deposit while works are under way.
  • Establishment water. New planting uses much more water for the first months. Planted in summer, a garden can add AED 800 to 2,500 a month to the water bill until it settles. Planted in winter, far less.
  • Plant losses. Even with good care, a few new plants fail in their first summer. A 5 to 10% allowance for replacements keeps this from becoming a dispute.
  • Access. Narrow side passages mean every bag of soil and every paver is carried by hand. Large trees may need a crane. Both are priced in.
  • VAT. Check whether the quotation includes the 5% VAT or adds it on top.

What pushes a landscaping quote up or down

  • Garden size. Bigger gardens cost more in total but less per square metre.
  • Paving material. The single biggest lever in most villa projects.
  • Plant size. A two-metre tree costs a fraction of a mature specimen. Young plants catch up faster than most people expect.
  • Native or imported plants. Imported species can cost several times more and usually need more water.
  • Ground condition. Good sandy fill is cheap to work with. Rubble and saline soil are not.
  • Structures and features. Pergolas, outdoor kitchens and water features add quickly.
  • Season. Summer installs cost more to keep alive. Winter installs establish faster and cheaper.

How to save without cutting corners

  • Never cut the irrigation. A cheap system that fails in its first summer costs more in dead plants than it saved.
  • Plant in winter. Work done between October and April needs less water and loses fewer plants. See our winter garden makeover packages.
  • Phase the project. Do groundwork, irrigation and cable runs first, then add structures and features next season. Laying cables and pipes before the paving saves digging it up later.
  • Use premium materials where people touch them. Natural stone on the main terrace, interlock on the side path.
  • Choose native and heat-tolerant plants for the structure of the garden, and spend on colour in a few beds rather than everywhere.
  • Buy young trees. They establish better and cost far less than mature specimens.

How to read a landscaping quotation

Before you compare prices, check that each quote answers these questions in writing.

  • Is the price itemised by area, item and system, or is it one number?
  • Are soil preparation, irrigation and waste removal included?
  • What exact materials are specified: paving type, turf variety, plant sizes?
  • Is there a warranty on plants, and for how long?
  • Is establishment care included, and for how many weeks?
  • Who handles community approval, and who pays the fees?
  • Is VAT included?

A quote that answers all seven is worth more than a cheaper one that answers three.

Frequently asked questions

How much does landscaping cost per square metre in Dubai?

A complete garden typically costs AED 150 to 500 per square metre, including soil preparation, planting, lawn, paving, irrigation and lighting. Individual items range from AED 25 per square metre for natural turf to AED 800 per square metre for natural stone paving. All figures are 2026 market ranges excluding VAT.

How much does it cost to landscape a villa garden in Dubai?

A standard villa garden of about 250 square metres typically costs AED 41,000 to 110,000 fully landscaped. A townhouse backyard of about 60 square metres costs AED 14,000 to 31,000, and a large villa garden with a pool deck starts from around AED 145,000.

How much does artificial grass cost in Dubai?

Artificial grass typically costs AED 60 to 150 per square metre supplied and installed, including base preparation and edging. Price depends on pile height, density and UV grade. Good grades last roughly 8 to 15 years in Dubai conditions.

How much does natural grass cost to install in Dubai?

Paspalum or Bermuda turf typically costs AED 25 to 60 per square metre supplied and laid on a prepared bed. Soil preparation, if needed, adds AED 30 to 70 per square metre, and the lawn needs irrigation.

How much does an irrigation system cost in Dubai?

A small drip system for a courtyard or around 20 plants costs AED 2,000 to 4,000. A full villa irrigation system with sprinklers, drip lines, several zones and a controller typically costs AED 8,000 to 15,000 or more.

How much does a pergola cost in Dubai?

A standard timber or steel pergola typically costs AED 8,000 to 25,000 installed. Louvred aluminium pergolas with adjustable roof blades start around AED 25,000. Most communities require approval before a pergola is built.

How much does garden maintenance cost in Dubai?

A single visit costs AED 200 to 550. Monthly maintenance runs AED 300 to 600 for a townhouse garden, AED 600 to 1,500 for a standard villa and AED 1,500 to 3,500 for a large villa. Annual contracts for a standard villa typically cost AED 8,000 to 18,000.

Do landscaping companies in Dubai charge for design?

Design is usually a lump sum of AED 2,000 to 5,000 for a simple townhouse layout and AED 5,000 to 50,000 for a full villa design. Many design-and-build companies reduce or waive the fee when they also build the garden.

What is the cheapest way to landscape a garden in Dubai?

Use native and heat-tolerant plants, buy young trees, keep premium paving to the areas people use most, and plant in winter. Phase bigger projects over two seasons. Do not cut the irrigation system, because failed plants cost more than a good system.

When is the best time to landscape in Dubai?

October to April. New planting establishes faster, needs less water and survives its first summer far better than planting done in the hot months.
